SLCT&CA was established in 2005 to educate taxpayers, the media, and elected officials on a non-partisan basis on the merits of limited government and low taxes. SLCT&CA uses a variety of means to accomplish our work including direct mail, public speaking and meetings, email and the Internet. We believe in a system in which taxes are simpler, fairer, and lower than they are today. The government's power to control one's life derives from its power to tax. We believe that power should be reduced and kept to a minimum. Mission Statement: The Scranton-Lackawanna County Taxpayers & Citizens Association's purpose is to provide Lackawanna County citizens an opportunity to express viewpoints and exchange opinions, which shall lead to those decisions and actions, which shall help to create good government, quality education, responsible use of the citizens' monies and renewed credibility in those officials who are placed in offices of trust. The Scranton-Lackawanna County Taxpayers and Citizens Association is a non-partisan, non-political and does not support or oppose any candidate. The Association is accountable to the people. The Scranton-Lackawanna County Taxpayers and Citizens Association is a volunteer organization and welcomes new people. Membership: Application for membership is open to any resident of Lackawanna County that supports our mission statement. 2008 Annual membership dues are $15.00. Continued voting membership is contingent upon being current with membership dues. Membership is granted by the majority of members of the association. |
